A Pause - September 2025

Hello lovelies,

Happy Equinox, whether the year is turning toward the light or the dark where you are, I hope you get a moment to breathe.

This is a perfect time to pause and reflect on the past six months, and consider what the next six months might look like for you. What does the season ahead normally bring you?

For me, September always feels like a time to start studying something new. This is probably because I was a student for so long, but also because the busy go-go-go of the summer is easing and there is space for curiousity, and lengthening evenings encourage me to stay in and read and create.

How about you? What feels like a good thing to you in this moment?

Do you feel like curling up with a book or taking a break? Heading outside to enjoy a wander in the changing landscape?

On YouTube I've been seeing a lot of people jumping on a trend they're calling the "Great Lock In", to make the final third of 2025 more intentionally productive. This kind of thing always feels really inspiring to me, it gets me thinking about all the things I could be doing, everything I want to do, learn, and change about my life.

And then I reflect and remember - I don't want to "lock in". I want more ease, more delight, more magic.

And that comes with space.

I've heard it enough times now that it is starting to sink in: "Give yourself permission."

I'm giving myself permission to breathe, to take breaks, and to play.

And that is giving me more space to study too.

Perfect.

I invite you this Equinox week to light a candle at your altar and ask yourself the question: "How do I want to feel this coming season?"

Make yourself a permission slip - on a piece of paper write something like:

[Your Name] has permission to feel/do [what you desire].

Place this under your candle and offer up a prayer to your deities, guides, allies, or ancestors, and ask them to support you in feeling this way, in ways that are joyous and sweet.

Thank your allies and put your permission slip somewhere you'll see it over the next months. You might pin it to the wall or put it in your wallet. Look at it whenever you need that reminder of what you want to feel, and whenever you need extra support, light a candle, offer some incense, and ask your allies for the support you need.
