Dragons in Wales (and updated dates)
Hello folks,
Turns out that there really are dragons in the Welsh woods!
Not that long ago a chap took a team to search for dragons in the Glamorgan forest. Like myself... they found them! Not huge creatures, but shimmering, undulating flying serpents that danced through the air for ages, fully visible before their eyes until they disappeared into a nearby canyon.
The dragon-seekers looked and looked for proof of what they had seen... but to no avail.
The locals, however, were unsurprised. Those dragons had always lived in the woods, but somehow, no matter how many people spotted them, they left no evidence behind.
I know that the dragons I saw in the woods last week were sculptures by a local artist (otherwise I couldn't have caught them on camera) but I love that we humans try to make the ephemeral tangible. We make art to share the delight of what we experience in the woods, whether it is dappled sunlight or mythical creatures granting us a glimpse of the magic that is our world.
All of which is to say... what is your favourite dragon story?
I'm finalising my set for Festival at the Edge this weekend and if you share your story perhaps it will be included!
